Norwood M. Hardesty passed over December 15, peacefully in his sleep.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Harlowe United Methodist Church with Pastor Rochele Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church the hour prior to the service.

Norwood was born March 7, 1938 in Harlowe, North Carolina in the home he resided in his entire life.     His home once housed the Old Stage Coach Depo on the Havelock to Beaufort route and is one of the oldest homes in the county.   He attended Beaufort High School and played Tackle for the Beaufort Seadogs where he was also known by the nickname “Buck”.   He graduated with the Class of 1958.

Earlier in his life, he constructed homes at Connor Industries and then he worked for the Board of Education.  He loved to talk to people and relate stories of growing up and his family.   He frequented his local coffee shop, Cru, in Beaufort and made many friends.  He is most notable for his lifetime affiliation with one iconic 69 Chevrolet Powder Blue short bed pick-up truck.   It has been his ride for 50 years.

Norwood was preceded in death by his parents, Rupert Tuttle and Leotta Taylor Hardesty; sister, Dorothy Ellen Dyess; brothers, Albert Wendell Hardesty; and John Tuttle Hardesty.  Norwood never married and is greatly loved by a treasure trove of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
