Robert “Bobby” Hill, Sr., 75, of Beaufort, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport.
Bobby, a recipient of the Coast Guard Medal, retired as a Master Chief after serving 20 years in the US Coast Guard. After his military service, he owned and operated Hill’s Gas for ten years, worked 18 years with the NC Ferry Division, and most recently was a Dock Master with Beaufort Yacht Basin. He was both the football and baseball coach at East Carteret High School for 32 years. He was a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge #109 in Beaufort and an active member of the Crystal Coast Chief’s Mess.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday in the East Carteret High School Gymnasium with Rev. Robbie Phillips and Jeffrey Sadler officiating.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dee Hill of Beaufort; daughter, Missy Prange and husband, Jim of Marco Island, FL; son, Bud Hill and wife, Pam Stallings of Beaufort; daughter, Kim Murphy and husband, Joe of Beaufort; eight grandchildren, Tanner; Sierra; Nikki; Amber; Madelynn; Courtney; Christian; and Logan; seven great grandchildren, Austin; Colie; Rhett; Reese; Jonathan; Ronan; and Oliver; step-father, Ben Benjock of CA; brother, Danny Hill of CA; four sisters, Ann Temple of New Bern; Betty Willis of Beaufort; Juniata Pake of Bettie; and Reba Wattson of Norwood, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LJ Hill and Alberta Benjock; sisters, Lois; Barbara; and Michelle.
