Brad Thigpen, 44, a resident of Pine Knoll Shores since childhood; passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Carteret Health Care with his mother and family friend, Sam Blackwell by his side.
Upon graduation from West Carteret High School, Brad successfully opened Sequence Silk Screening and Embroidery Company. He took great pride in his graphic arts abilities and embroidery skills. After closing his business, he went to work for Advance Auto Parts earning the respect and love of all his colleagues and customers for over ten years. As a lifelong surfer, he was known for his triple overheads at the Outer Banks. Brad never gave up in his fight with his cancer. He was the gentlest soul who will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and honor.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at St. Francis By The Sea Episcopal Church with The Rev. L. Everett Thomas officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
A graveside service for family at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, NC will take place at 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.
Brad is survived by his mother, Sue Ellen McClamroch of Pine Knoll Shores; brother, Cameron (Jill) Thigpen of Greenville, NC; nieces, Madison and Lilly; and nephew, Gavin all of Geenville, NC.
