Barbara Ann Noe

December 5, 1941 — August 19, 2017

Barbara Saulter Noe (December 5, 1941 August 19, 2017) A beautiful life came to a peaceful end on August 19th. Barbara S. Noe quietly passed away after a hard fought battle with pulmonary fibrosis and rheumatoid arthritis. Barbara was a remarkable and well loved woman who was devoted to her family, her friends and her church. She always put others first and herself last. Barbaras love for children led her to pursue an almost forty year career as an elementary school teacher. Her colleagues became her closest circle of friends throughout her life. This amazing group of women showered her with love and care always, but especially during the last, most difficult months of her illness. Barbara was such a loving and caring person, who worked tirelessly to help others, as well as her church, Ann Street United Methodist. She was an active member of Ann Street and the Wesleyan Circle, whose members graciously prepared a delicious meal for her family following her Memorial Service. Barbaras love for her son, Charles Staton, her grandchildren, Grier Staton, Libby Staton, and Hunter Gaskill knew no bounds and she was so very proud of each one of them. She was an extremely protective and generous grandmother. She took pleasure in demonstrating her love by sending her granddaughters boxes full of gifts as frequently as she could and in spending quality time each week with her grandson. Words are sometimes empty and meaningless, but Barbaras actions always spoke volumes about who she was. There was so much goodness in her and not one drop of selfishness or meanness. She was quiet and humble, never looking for praise in all she did for so many and never saying no, when asked to help. She was also an intelligent, active, adventurous, happy and upbeat woman who went out of her way to try to sustain peace and good will with everyone. She was not one to judge or criticize and she was an excellent listener. Barbara asked that her obituary include a heartfelt thank you to all of her friends and family who helped her over the years in so many ways. She loved and appreciated each one of you. There are too many to list and she would not want anyone accidentally left out. A special thank you to Pastor Taylor Mills and his assistant for their many comforting visits over the course of her illness and to the Wesleyan Circle. Barbara is loved and profoundly missed by her family and friends. She will never be forgotten by those whose lives she touched. We all know, without a doubt, that Heaven has joyfully welcomed her. Those who love her can all rejoice and take comfort in knowing that she is now happy, healthy and one of the most beautiful Angels in heaven. Barbara has been laid to rest next to her loving husband, Earl M. Noe Jr., in Carteret Memorial Gardens, Beaufort, N.C. Barbara is survived by her loving son, Charles Staton and his wife, Meridith; her grandchildren, Grier Staton, Libby Staton and Hunter Gaskill; her brother, Mike Saulter and his wife, Denise and their family, as well as her cousin, Sheila McClung and her husband Bruce and daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Ike Adams.
