Chester 'Chet' E. Burgher

Chester 'Chet' E. Burgher, 95, of Littleton, NC, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Harborview Health Care Center in Morehead City, NC. Mr. Burgher served in the US Army during WWII. He retired as an aeronautical engineer, having worked on projects like the Rocket Belt, Lunar Landing Module, Bell helicopters and the Vertical takeoff jet. He is survived by his four sons: John, and his wife Cheryl, of Clarence, NY; Charles, and his wife Connie, of Pine Knoll Shores, NC; Colston, of Dallas, TX; and Harry, of Kenmore, NY, as well as nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than fifty years, Sara Kenyon Burgher and his brother Adolph. The family is deeply grateful to the staff at the Coventry House Inn, in Henderson, NC, which he considered his home, as well as the residents, whom he considered his extended family. In addition, he was very grateful for the compassion he received from the staff at Harborview Health Care Center. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
