Obituary Margaret Lane Daniels, 71, of Tusk, passed away Saturday, April 06, 2019 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House of Newport. Per Margarets wishes, there will be no services. Margaret became an LPN at age 21 and joined the Army Reserves at Age 31. She served for 9 years, and after being honorably discharged, she received her RN at age 41. She dedicated herself to nursing and spent over 40 years of her life taking care of others in nursing homes. She was a lifetime member of the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum; and in retirement, spent many hours greeting the visitors and telling them about the area. She was instrumental in starting the Down East Public Library and was a member of the Harkers Island Ward meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by her brother, Ray Daniels of Tawney Town, MD; niece, Wendy Garner and husband, Durwood of Otway, NC; Ginger Wellons of Bettie, NC; nephew, Kevin Gillikin and wife, Tammy of Otway, NC; niece, Kelly Jordan and husband, Mike of Otway, NC; niece, Erin Mulhern of Tusk, NC; best friends, Belinda and Walter Williford of New Hill, NC; and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Millie and Earl Daniels; brother, Binky Day; sisters, Helen Piner; Janette Gillikin; and Carol Rose; and best friend, Alice Averinos.
