Bobbie Jean Midgette of Beaufort, passed away at the Hospice House of Newport on June 3rd, 2026. She was 82 years young.
Bobbie was born in Richmond, VA to Wolford E.A. Rush and Aldenia Oneal Garrish on Sept 2nd, 1943, then later growing up in Beaufort for most of her childhood and eventually graduating from the old Beaufort High School in 1961. Bobbie Jean then later married, moved away for a spell, living in Delaware for 20+ years, started a family and then eventually returned home to the Crystal Coast here in Beaufort in 1991. Bobbie was a doting friend to many and wonderful mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren and loving wife to husband, Carnelle Midgette of whom they were married for 42 years. Many locals came to know Ms. Bobbie from her tenure at the long standing Beaufort waterfront staple: Stampers Jewelers, working there for over a decade and right up until they closed. A pillar within her community and cornerstone to her family and friends both in and out of the "Cane Brigade", Bobbie lived a joyful and active life in her community and within the church for many years.
Services will be held on Sunday, June 14th at Beaufort By The Sea Community Church, located at 214 Turner St in Beaufort, beginning w/ an hour of visitation at 2pm and funeral service to immediately follow, and graveside burial proceeding at Oceanview Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Carla Midgette of Beaufort; one son, Justin Midgette of Beaufort and also an adopted son, Jon Bower of Missouri and two granddaughters, Maddie and Molly Midgette of Beaufort.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Aldenia, her father, Wolford, step father, Gilbert Whitehurst and husband, Carnelle Midgette.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Crystal Coast Hospice House and her home of worship at Beaufort by the Sea Community Church, PO Box 930 Beaufort, NC 28516.
