Cheryl Young

Cheryl Ann Temple was born on December 19, 1950, in Maryland, Delaware, to William and Pauline Temple. Cheryl and her brother Bill lived in San Diego, California, while her father was in the Navy.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Ocean View Cemetery in Beaufort.

Cheryl and her brother moved to Beaufort, North Carolina after the deaths of their parents and lived with Thompson and Elizabeth Vick.

Cheryl Temple met a young man named John Norwood Young, while she was at the Homecoming Parade. They married at Ann Street United Methodist, May 2, 1969.

She was the mother of two sons, William and Scott.

She began her career in the retail business as an employee of Belks Department Store. Cheryl was asked if she wanted to be trained in family dentistry as a dental assistant. She worked 20+ years as a dental assistant.

Cheryl was a hospice volunteer at the hospital, active in The Beaufort Historical Association, was active in the church at Ann Street, and past president of Beaufort Garden Club. Cheryl is a certified Master Gardener, and the first few years of the founding of Beaufort By The Sea Community Church, she was active in small groups and worship every chance the door was open.

Cheryl Young was a devoted wife to her husband that preceded her in death after 46 years of marriage. She was a sister to Mr. Bill Temple and Xu, aunt to many nieces and nephews; mother to William and Bianca Young, and Scott and Donna Young; and grandmother of Abree and Millie Kate.

On Friday, August 28, 2026, we lost our mother, aunt, sister, friend, grandmother, and sister in the Lord Jesus. She has passed to be in Eternity with her Lord, and her husband John.
