David Hewett

David R. Hewett, 73, of Beaufort, passed away at the Crystal Coast Hospice House of Newport, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Beaufort.

A memorial service will be held at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, NC during the month of August.

David proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Coast Guard, retiring with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. Following his distinguished military career, he worked for the Hearst Corporation in their Magazine Division in Charlotte, NC.

In his leisure time, David found joy in fishing and cherished moments spent with his family. In his later years, he developed a passion for gardening, particularly growing sunflowers that brought beauty to his surroundings. He also took great pleasure in feeding the birds and squirrels, finding peace and connection in nature.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Hewett of Beaufort; daughter, Amy Felty and husband, Quentin of Sunrise, FL; son, David Hewett and husband, Brian of Los Angles, CA; grandson, Elliott Felty of Sunrise, FL; brother, Walter Hewett and wife, Kay of Wilmington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Joyce Hewett.
