Devan Connor Parlier

February 17, 1999 — February 12, 2024

Devan Conner Parlier, 24, of Marshallberg, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024.

Devan Connor Parlier came into this world early, on February 17, 1999, and left too soon, at the age of 24, a few days shy of his next birthday. As a young boy, he was a “feel-good” kid who made those around him laugh. If he didn’t like the music that was on he had no trouble covering his ears and letting you know. He liked to steal dinner rolls and cookies and his brother’s action figures, but you couldn’t stay mad at Devan because of his infectious smile and silly grin. No matter where he was, you could find him with his ‘Pooh blankey’ and probably a Little Debbie or two.

Devan played basketball, soccer, and tennis in school and graduated from Watauga High School in Boone. He attended ECU before deciding he really wanted to work with his hands. He transferred to Carteret Community College and completed all the courses possible in anything related to boating, including marine propulsion systems and boat manufacturing and services. He worked for a local boat manufacturer and, most recently at Loggerhead Marina in Beaufort.

Devan was a hard worker who would help anyone in need, and he never complained. In his free time, he loved boating, swimming, grilling with his smoker, his dog Sage, time with his family and friends, playing games, and listening to music. He could play guitar and would sing if you could coax him to do so, and he was secretly the best bass player in the family. Devan was talented at anything he attempted to do, but if he decided he was tired of it, he’d move right along. He never had a problem making decisions. Devan was the type of person who would often sit quietly in a group setting but then would then say the funniest thing of the entire night. He said a lot with a little, and his laugh was infectious. Devan was a son, a grandson, a brother, a cousin, and to all, a friend. He was our light and our joy and he will be greatly missed.
