Jerome “Jerry” Thomas Donahoe Jr., 79, born on September 26, 1946, of New Bern, N.C. passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, N.C. with his partner, Marie A. Taylor “M.T.”, at his side.
He is preceded in his Heavenly journey by his parents, Mary McKelvey Donahoe, and Jerome Thomas Donahoe Sr. of Pittsburgh, P.A.
Jerry is survived by his loving partner of forty-six years, Marie Annette Taylor “M.T.”; his daughter, Tracy Donahoe May, and son in law, Steven, who blessed him with two precious grand-daughters, Kayleen Ann May and Heather Doris May, all of Lyford, T.X. Jerry was also blessed by his extended family, M.T.'s adult children: Beth, Len, and Phil Conner. He is also survived by ten grandchildren in his extended family: Ahmad Conner, Saba Conner, Aziza Conner, and Hamza Conner, David Foxx Sterling, Bintu Conner and Noell Conner, Courtney Richardson, Sydnee Hienke, and Cody Conner; eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. He was affectionally called “Grandaddy” by all of his babies. He will also be greatly missed by his fur baby, June Bug.
Jerry served his country as a Proud United States Marine and was a proud Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient. His employment years include Hatteras Yachts, Cherry Point, and thirty years with the insurance firm of Grady & Grady. After a short retirement time he went to work as a Target employee. He enjoyed his Target family until his health failed in 2025. His Target family called him “Mr. Jerry”, and they said he always made them laugh with his awesome humor.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, always cheering no matter the score. He will be missed affectionally by all his friends, especially by his coffee drinking buddy, Fred, with whom the two solved world problems.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at North River Methodist Church Cemetery in Beaufort, N.C. officiated by Father Thomas of Annunciation Catholic Church.
