Jerry Thomas Willis

Jerry Thomas Willis, 76, of Williston, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Carteret Health Care of Morehead City.

Jerry was a man of the sea and a proud veteran of the US Navy, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and an unwavering love for the ocean. After serving his country with honor, Jerry found his calling on the decks of tugboats and dredge boats. His knowledge of the sea was not only deep but also wide, as he embraced the life of a commercial fisherman and clammer. His hands, weathered by ropes and nets, were a symbol of his commitment to his craft.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Bridgeway Church of Beaufort. A private burial will take place at a later date at Oak Lane Cemetery in Williston. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Tuesday at the church.

He is survived by his son, Brian Willis and wife, Jessica of Davis Shore; three grandsons: Matthew, Noah, and Stryker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Iris Willis; sister, Saundra Gillikin and brother, David Lee Willis.
