Joe R. Craft, Sr., 88, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, in Beaufort, North Carolina. Born on October 8, 1936, in Pinetops, North Carolina, Joe lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and the traditions he cherished.

Joe built a distinguished career with Georgia Pacific, where he served as Plant Manager in both North Carolina and Georgia. Over more than four decades of service, he earned the respect of colleagues and employees alike for his leadership and commitment to excellence.

Family was at the heart of Joe's life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonnie Craft; his parents, Bruton and Irene Craft; and his siblings Bobby, Jean, Donald, Tommy, and David Craft. He is survived by his three sons: Joe Craft II (Sheryl), Bennett Craft (Candy), and Tim Craft (Leigh). Joe also leaves behind a proud legacy through his grandchildren-Shawna Hall; Joe Craft III (Jill); Randi Kozlowski (Ben); Amber Craft; and Chris Craft (Ashley)-and eleven great-grandchildren who carry forward the spirit of their grandfather.

A passionate supporter of University of Georgia football, Joe was a season ticket holder for an impressive 48 years. His love for the Dawgs became a cherished family tradition spanning three generations. Saturdays in the fall were spent traveling with Bonnie and their family to cheer on their team-a ritual that brought joy and wonderful memories.

Summers held a special place in Joe's heart. As a child, he spent long days at Atlantic Beach along North Carolina's southern Outer Banks. This love for the coast endured throughout his life as he and Bonnie continued this tradition with their children and grandchildren. These beach vacations became treasured moments filled with laughter, storytelling, and lasting memories.

Joe was also a member of Trinity Chapel Methodist Church at Tybee Island, Georgia where he and Bonnie built their dream home after retirement. His faith provided him with quiet strength throughout his life.

A celebration of life honoring Joe's life will be held at Forest Lawn Chapel at a future date in the coming months.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
