Lentis Lewis Jr.

Lentis “Len” Dew Lewis, Jr., 74, of Beaufort, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Carteret Health Care of Morehead City.

A gathering of friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Bridgeway Church of Beaufort with a time of sharing at 7:00.The family will receive friends at other times at the family home.

A respected figure in the Wilson community, Len was the proud owner of The Beefmastor Inn and O'Cools Sports Bar & Grill, both well-known establishments in Wilson. Through his work in the restaurant industry, he became a familiar and valued presence to many in the area.

Len was also an active member of the Rotary Club in Wilson, where he contributed to local initiatives and community service efforts.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Laura DeRatt Lewis of Beaufort; son, James Parker and wife, Trisha of Wilson; grandson, Jameson Hess Lewis of Wilson; granddaughter, Brileigh Doughtie of Wilson; Isla Doughtie of Wilson; brother-in-law, Jimmy DeRatt and wife, Pat of Wilson; sister-in-law, Kathy Mullins and husband, Jeff of Holly Springs, NC; brother-in-law, Monty DeRatt and wife, Connie of Wilson; six nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lentis and Mary Lewis; sister, Mary Lou Lewis; his wife’s parents, James and Emily DeRatt.
