Melissa filled our lives with absolute love, endless laughter, and a warmth that made everyone feel like family. We will forever miss her blasting loud music, cradling sweet babies, cooking warm meals, and styling hair. Most of all, we will miss sitting together while she dished the latest updates, turning every story into a hilarious, unforgettable masterpiece. Her beautiful spirit leaves an emptiness that only our favorite memories of her can fill.

Melissa’s story began in Morehead City, North Carolina, where she was born on April 23, 1981, to Mary L. Wilson and the late Johnnie M. Small. Her greatest joy and legacy live on in her two beloved sons, Taureon Small and Tresean Small, both of Beaufort.

Her memory will be fiercely cherished by her mother, Mary, and her devoted sisters, Matilda Reels (Jamie), of Beaufort, and Brittney Small of Vanceboro. Melissa also leaves behind her adored nephews, DeShawn Wilson and Da’Maryius Thompson, her niece, Tamara Reels, and her great-niece, Omni Baker. She additionally leaves behind a large, loving circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who meant the world to her, including her special childhood cousins, Keshia Slade and Malola Wilson, with whom she shared a lifetime of beautiful memories.
