Paul Johnson, 55, of Beaufort, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, at ECU Health Wellness Center in Greenville, NC.
Born on May 8, 1970, in Morehead City, arriving five minutes after his twin sister, Paula Johnson Gibson. He lived in Havelock, NC. He was the beloved son of Gus Milton Johnson and Katie Mae Johnson. For 37 years, Stephanie Foster was his soulmate and the love of his life. Together, they raised three children and shared the joy of five grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at God’s City of Refuge in Newport. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 at the church on Saturday. A recording of the service will be available at Noefs.net.
Paul was known throughout his community as a family man with a generous spirit and a heart full of kindness. A devoted father, brother, son, and friend. He loved to sing, hunt, fish, and cook. He loved the “Dallas Cowboys.” He also worked in construction and as a landscaper.
Paul was born and given back to God as a child. He was raised in the community church, God’s City of Refuge, where he was introduced to the word of God and baptized as a teenager. He attended Sunday School, sang in the Youth Choir, and attended Vacation Bible School.
He loved singing in the gospel quartet with his late grandfather Otto Johnson. He had an incredibly special bond with his brothers Milton Keith Johnson and Tracy Johnson.
Words cannot express how much he loved his family, friends, and community.
Paul is survived by his children: sons James Hill, Siquan DePaul Johnson, of Harkers Island, NC, and Christian Taylor; daughters Paulasia Johnson, of the home and Mercedes Johnson, of Havelock, NC; brothers Milton Keith Johnson and Tracy Johnson; sisters Paula Johnson Gibson and Terra Johnson Bargeman; grandsons Harley Brooks, James Hill Jr, Robbie Robinson, Orion Simon; granddaughters Timyrah Johnson, Davanee Martin, Bianca Nagy, Moriah Fitzgerald, Izzabell Hill, and Silas Simon; and special friends Stephanie Foster, of the home, and Rocco Godette, Jr., of Havelock, NC.
He was also cherished by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family members who will continue to celebrate his memory. He shared a special bond with them all.
Paul was a hard worker, and he loved helping all people. Paul’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
