Pauline Goodwin

Jul 29, 1941 — Jul 13, 2026

Pauline Woodard Goodwin, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, July 13, 2026. Respecting Pauline’s wishes, the family celebrated her life privately.

Pauline was born July 29, 1941 at Morehead City Hospital to the late Paul and Doris Woodard. She grew up on Ann Street in Beaufort, the youngest of three sisters. As a child she enjoyed riding her bike around Beaufort and spending time at the library, where her mother was the librarian. She was a proud graduate of Beaufort High School Class of 1959. She continued her education at the Women’s College of the University of North Carolina Greensboro. After graduating with a degree in business, she worked at Hamilton, Hamilton, Phillips Law Group and Leslie Huntley Law Firm as a shorthand writer. She then spent twenty three years working at Coastal Radiology Associates in both Morehead City and New Bern offices.

Pauline had a curious mind and a wide range of interests over the years. She could tackle any crossword puzzle with ease and could always be found with a book in hand. She was a lifelong, avid reader who didn’t pass up a trip to the library. Pauline was a talented seamstress, creating beautiful doll clothes for Bitty Baby & American Girl dolls. She was always down for a trip to Hobby Lobby to find her latest project. She could be found any given afternoon cruising down Front Street with a crispy Coke in hand. She loved dogs, especially dachshunds and enjoyed many years with her beloved, Brownie.

Later in life she found great joy in attending Maddie’s soccer and t-ball games. Every season she could be spotted at the ball field, cheering for Maddie & her teammates. She never missed a game! She was affectionately known as Ge to Maddie’s friends & even adults alike.

Above all else, her greatest joy in life was the simple moments with her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Her grandchildren named her “Gega” and her home was a place of warmth where they always felt welcomed. Her grandchildren were always greeted with a treat or piece of chocolate candy, Pauline’s favorite.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Gina Rose Lewis and husband Michael Lewis of Beaufort. Her cherished grandchildren: Sarah Katherine Davis and partner Christopher Jones of Morehead City, Charles Paul Davis and wife Kayla Davis of Hubert, and Mark Alexander Davis of Gloucester. Her beloved great-granddaughter, Madelyn Grace Jones of Morehead City. Her special nephew Thomas Hamilton Jr and wife Kathleen of Castle Hayne, who dedicated their time to Pauline in her later years.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Altheus Woodard and Doris Miller Woodard and her sisters, Inez Woodard Lewis and Elizabeth Woodard Hamilton.

Pauline was a lifelong reader and believed engagement with books should start early in life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Title Wave Book Mobile.
