Raymond 'Trout' Paul Gillikin

Raymond P. "Trout" Gillikin, 77, of Beaufort, went to be with God on Monday, January 8, 2018. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Gillikin. Raymond was a graduate of Beaufort High School and East Carolina College; where he received a B.S. in Business, a minor in Math and his Graduate degree in Education Administration. At East Carolina, he was president of his freshmen and sophomore classes, a member of student government and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. After graduation, he spent 7 years teaching and serving as a school principal. Later, he was employed as a salesman with Procter and Gamble and was the top salesman in the Atlanta District. He then went into chemical sales and established his own company, Gilli-Chem Inc., which he operated until his death. Raymond was an avid speckled trout fisherman and his nickname was "Trout". Its a nickname he carried throughout his life from the age of six. He has a 9.5 pound spec. mounted on the wall of his home. The family will celebrate his life privately. He is survived by his daughter, Paula C. Gillikin of Beaufort, NC.; step-son Joe Weatherly and wife Jennifer of Green Cove Springs, FL; sister, Edna Brock of Beaufort, NC; and his beautiful, loving, girlfriend, Lerlene Deans of Rocky Mount, NC. He was predeceased by his wife Carol; brothers, Bill Gillikin and Frank S. Gillikin, Sr..
