Richard Owen Harker Sr

Richard Owen Harker, Sr. of Beaufort passed away Monday June 22, 2026 at Croatan Ridge Nursing Center in Newport. He was a long-time member of Ann Street United Methodist Church and a follower of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Richard worked at Safrit's Lumber Company for many years before finishing his working career at Cherry Point working in their Facility's Maintenance Department. Richard was an avid carpenter and loved woodworking and spent his free time working in his shop building furniture, turning bowls, baskets, vases and making beautiful wooden crosses, which he gave away to his family, friends and acquaintances that he would meet.

Richard was preceded in death by the Love of his life Dorothy Harker and his parents, Richard Glenn and Hazel Harker, his sister Glenda and brother Roger.

He is survived by his daughter, Dottie Harker Pruzan; son, Richard Owen Harker, Jr. and his wife, Susan Gordon Harker; grandchildren Anna Gabrielle Pruzan, Christopher Andrew Harker and wife Malloreigh Fulks Harker, Colby Alexander Harker and wife SaraBeth Johnson Harker, great granddaughter Katherine Aurelia (Rory) Harker, his sister Amelia (Sisi) Dudley and sister-in-law Carolyn Eubanks.

The memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 11th, 2026, at Beaufort by the Sea Community Church, 214 Turner Street, NC 28516
