Rodney C. Harvey Jr.

Rodney C. Harvey Jr., 58, of Sea Level, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Carteret Health Care of Morehead City.

Rodney was a lifelong commercial fisherman and a skilled tugboat captain. He worked from the Texas coast to the Grand Banks of the northern Atlantic, but he always called Sea Level home. He enjoyed celebrating life with his family and entertaining everyone in his home. He had a passion for cooking and found joy in preparing meals for those around him. Rodney also loved to travel with his significant other, Lisa Golden, whom he affectionately called his "Queen."

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Sea Level Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Nelson Bay Cemetery in Sea Level. The family will receive family and friends at Rodney’s house in Sea Level after the graveside service to celebrate his life with food and stories. Come share your favorite story.

He is survived by his son, Jordan Harvey of Sea Level; daughter, Lindsey Harvey of Newport; granddaughter, Paityn Traxler of Atlantic Beach; sister, Elizabeth Lewis and husband, Paul of Conover, NC; sister, Rhonda H. Piner of Williston; brother, Alan Harvey of New Smyrna Beach, FL; sister, Darbi Reyes of Snow Hill, NC; brother, Sterling Gillikin of Newport; brother, Clayton Gillikin Jr. of Snow Hill, NC. He has 17 nieces and nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rodney Harvery and mother, Grace Gillikin; sister, Juanita Littleton and brother, Leon Harvey.
