Sylvia Taylor Scadden, 52, of Beaufort, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Duke University Hospital in Durham surrounded by her family and listening to Cheeseburger in Paradise by Jimmy Buffett. 

A member of the First Baptist Church of Beaufort, Sylvia was deeply connected to her community. She was a Girl Scout in her youth and a graduate of East Carteret High School, Class of 1991. Sylvia found joy in gardening, nurturing life with her hands and heart.

In her passing, Sylvia gave the ultimate gift of life through organ donation, saving two lives and leaving a legacy of compassion and generosity.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 21, at First Baptist Church of Morehead City with Pastors Jack Lee and Paul Loftin officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm at the church.

She is survived by her husband, Greg Scadden of Beaufort; daughter, Taylor Lewis and husband, Chris of Salter Path; son, David Fletcher Noe Jr. and significate other, Lexi Pippin of Pinetown, NC; sister, Jennifer Taylor significate other, James Rhue of Beaufort; step son, Lucas Scadden and significant other Gracie Ellington of Beaufort, NC; many special friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and all her chickens, and dogs. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Eva Taylor; the father of her children, David Fletcher Noe Sr.; maternal grandparents, Everett and Estella Lawrence; paternal grandparents, James and Mary Catherine Taylor; and beloved dog Drake.
