Terry Baxter Dedmon, 90, of Harkers Island, NC, passed away at home on October 3, 2026.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Free Grace Methodist Church in Harkers Island.
Terry was born and raised in Cooleemee, NC. He served on the Davie Co. Zoning Board for several years and helped with the establishment of Victory Baptist Church, where he was instrumental in starting bus ministry and junior church.
In 1954, Terry joined the Army, where he became a Green Beret. He was on the Special Forces Rifle Team where he earned many awards in competitions.
Terry loved deer hunting and fishing, and he was also a history buff. He resurrected the Pearson Cemetery, where many revolutionary war heroes and future statesmen are buried. Following his retirement in 2002, Terry moved to Harkers Island where he began a new life following his dream of commercial and recreational fishing. Terry was an active member of Free Grace Wesleyan Church for over 24 years.
He is survived by his wife Sheron Dedmon; one brother, Delano Dedmon; two daughters, Cyndie Mazzeo and Jo Lynn Spillman; and grandson, Stephen Emerson (wife Kristen Emerson).
