Tess Denise Jacobs

Tess Denise Jacobs, 54, of Newport, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026 at her home.

Tess was known for her deep love of animals, especially dogs, always placing their well-being first. Her compassion extended to those around her—she was kind, giving, and constantly concerned for others. She lived with integrity, never shifting blame and always taking responsibility for her actions.

A creative spirit, Tess found joy in artistic expression, especially through painting. Her creativity was a meaningful part of her life and a reflection of her unique perspective on the world.

Family held a special place in Tess’s heart. Her son Chris shared a heartfelt message: “I love you Mom.”

The family will celebrate her life privately.

Tess is survived by her son, Christopher Taylor Jr. of Raleigh; her mother, Barbara Jarvis of Grantsboro; brother, Lee Henry and wife, Nicole of Newport; sister, Shannon Hopkins of Grantsboro; maternal grandmother, Nina Jarvis of Morehead City; nieces and nephews: Robert, Braxton, Forbes, Kaylee, Jayden, and Meagan; several aunts and uncles; and her fur babies: Koda, Daisey, Frankie, and Bella.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, George Jarvis.
