Tracie Jeannine Chadwick passed on Friday, February 27, 2026, succumbing to her swift battle with cancer in her brother’s home surrounded by family.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday. March 21, 2026, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Beaufort. The family will receive friends prior from 11-12:00pm at the church.
She was born on December 27, 1970, second of two children, to the late Reverend James Garfield Chadwick and Virginia Carol Oden Chadwick.
Tracie is preceded in death by her grandparents, James Walter Oden, Sr., Elizabeth Chadwick Oden, Charles Hester Debrix, and Viola Chadwick Debrix.
Tracie is survived by her brother Anthony P Chadwick (Alesia) of Warner Robins, Georgia. Her niece Alexandria “Haely” Chadwick Duty (Joshua), great niece Lily Kate Libazs, great nephews Nikolas Chadwick Libazs and Karter James Duty. Nieces Ashlynne-Kate Chadwick Bridges (Clayton) and Karen Elizabeth Oropeza. Tracie is also leaving behind uncles, aunts, and many cousins, whom shared the enduring love of siblings. She was surrounded by a great number of friends that became family to her and now to us.
Tracie grew up in Beaufort, NC, where at an early age she joined and was a beloved member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Cedar Street. She was a graduate of East Carteret High School, (1989); where she was a proud member of the Marching Mariners Band for all four years.
Tracie continued her education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. There she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English (1994). Shortly after graduating, she began her career at UNCW as Office Administrator in Alumni Affairs. In January 2003, she was selected as an Administrator Associate in the Biology and Marine Biology Department. In 2016 she transitioned into a role of broader responsibilities including Student Employee hiring, managing campus events for the department and many key department functions.
Tracie was to say the least, passionate about her sports. She was versatile in her choice of sports but a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Cubs and Duke Basketball. She would binge watch college softball and baseball for hours.
She was faithful and tenderhearted with her family. Although having no children of her own, Tracie was especially fond of her nieces, great niece and great nephews. She loved family holidays, outings, and family reunions. Whether it was trips to Cape Lookout or cook-outs with cousins, she was always present.
Tracie was gracious, outspoken and hard working. Like her mother, never afraid to share her voice, Tracie has impacted the lives of many and will continue to do so.
