William E. Daniels of Smyrna, NC passed on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in Morehead (Carteret County) North Carolina.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 7th at 4:00 p.m. at Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church, 130 Airport Road, Beaufort, NC 28516 with Rev. Terry McInnis and Glenn Gribble officiating.

A native of Cape May, New Jersey, Will grew up in Tidewater, Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1958 with honors. He then settled in Northern Virginia to pursue his profession as an architect. After successfully completing the state board examinations in 1962, Will became a registered architect in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and West Virginia.

The next year his career was initiated as a partner of an architectural practice in Vienna, Virginia. He went on to become highly respected in the business community throughout the Washington Metropolitan area during some fifty-five years in the marketplace as an outstanding architect, development manager, consultant and developer with expertise in both the residential and commercial arena. His strongest activity most recently was in the design of religious facilities until his retirement in 2005 to provide care for his wife, Norma.

He was a member of the Vienna Optimist Club for many years, as well as the Greater Vienna Chamber of Commerce, where he was honored as the Outstanding Businessman of the Year in 1984. He attended Vienna Baptist Church from 1961 to 2013 where he provided many hours of volunteering his time including the acquisition and gifting of the Lost River Retreat Center in West Virginia and the design and execution of the new church Sanctuary addition completed in 1987. Since moving to Smyrna, North Carolina, he has attended the Otway Christian Church and the Woodville Baptist Church.

Beloved husband of Norma Frances Twiford Daniels, devoted father of Alicia Michaelle Daniels DeBow of Maryville, Tennessee and husband Charles, Yolanda Frances Daniels of Lake Worth Beach, Florida, and William Edward Daniels, II of Smyrna, North Carolina. 

Will is also survived by six grandchildren, Holly Lynn Daniels Everton and husband Robert, Mark William Daniels, Curtis Russell Daniels and wife Annie, Reese Daniel Williams and wife Andrea, Mariah Michelle Williams Widmer Edge and husband Josh, Lilly Jane Morgan Daniels; five great grandchildren, Timothy Edward Everton, Jackson Everton, Ezra James Widmer Edge, Micah Reid Widmer Edge, Lincoln Conklin Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Darrel Daniel and Janie Bell Daniel of Tusk, and siblings Dallas D. Daniel, Jean Kelley, and Lillie Marie Daniel Pierce.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church, 130 Airport Road, Beaufort, NC 28516.
