Beaufort

William “Bill” Shank, 75, of Beaufort, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 18, 2026.

Bill will be remembered best for his quick, dry sense of humor. He graduated from Shippensburg University of PA. He loved spending time with family and friends at their Raystown Lake property in PA, and was a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and their other teams: the Pirates and the Penguins. He was an avid runner in his youth and liked to run in the 3k and 5k races. He enjoyed golf and loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He found fulfillment in his career managing retail.

After moving to Beaufort, Bill found a renewed sense of purpose, enjoying walks downtown admiring the beauty of the area as well as the camaraderie of newfound friends within the church and among neighbors.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at Ann Street United Methodist Church in Beaufort. A private burial will take place at Oceanview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:00 at the church.

Bill is survived by his wife of 36 years, Doris Shank of Beaufort; stepson, Jason Dorsey and wife, Lori of Beaufort; stepdaughter, Stephanie Chartier and husband, Nash of Conestoga, PA; three grandchildren, Sienna, Evan, and Emerald; two brothers, Jim Shank and wife, Jenny of Pennsylvania; Robert “Bob” Shank and wife, Bonnie of Virginia; and Sue Shank of Pennsylvania, the surviving spouse of his brother Wally.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Wally Shank and Ruth Shank; brother, Walter “Wally” Shank Jr.
