Deacon Dennis Bruce Taylor of North River Community went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 18, 2022. Deacon Taylor was born to the late William and Sally Taylor on November 8, 1947. He received his high school education from Queen Street High School in Beaufort, North Carolina. At an early age, Deacon Dennis became a member of Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church in North River, where he received Christ as his personal Savior.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at 1 pm at Mt Tabor Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Hubert Judon officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Tabor church cemetery.
Deacon Taylor worked at various places of employment and was a shop supervisor at Waste Industries in Newport, North Carolina, for over 25 years. Deacon Taylor was active within the community and served as the fourth Fire Chief of the North River Volunteer Fire Department and as a Carteret County Community Board of Action member. He faithfully served at Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School, and Chairman of the Deacon Board for many years.
Deacon Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sally Taylor; siblings, Sterling, Robert, and Mattie; and daughter, Beverly. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 54 years, Dollie Taylor; two sons, Anthony Taylor (Patricia) of Goldsboro, NC; Christopher Taylor (Christina) of Fayetteville, NC; and daughter, Avril Taylor of Morehead City, NC and 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine Murray; Sylvia Oliver; Virginia Taylor; Debra Hatten (Mark); Francis Jeffries; and brother Horace Don Taylor; sisters-in-laws Delphine Hacker (Bernard) and Barbara Taylor; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
