Jane was born on December 31, 1940, at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, in Portsmouth, VA, to Joseph C. Moon, of Columbus, GA, and Doris Salter Moon, of Atlantic, NC. She spent her early life between Macon and Columbus, GA, before marrying Allen F. Nelson, of Atlantic, NC, on January 6, 1957. Over the next 10 years Allen's service in the Coast Guard took them to Wilmington, NC, Elizabeth City, NC, and, finally, to Washington, DC. As Allen transitioned to a civilian career with RCA Corporation, Jane entered the workforce as an in-home health aide. After a work transfer, for Allen, took them to Cherry Hill, and Princeton, NJ, they returned to Smyrna, NC, where Jane resumed and then furthered her career, earning the certification of CNA. She continued in this field as they finally settled in Morehead City, NC, where they have lived for the last 27 years.

While living in Washington, DC, they began studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses and were baptized on December 11th, 1965. Later, Jane began serving in the full-time ministry of Jehovah’s Witnesses, first in New Jersey, and then in North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charles Keith Moon of Sea Level, NC; and her sons, Allen Nelson III, and Mark Nelson, both of Morehead City, NC.

In addition to her husband, Allen, she is survived by her sister, Mary Jo Quinn and her husband David, of Newport, NC; her daughter, Christie Daniel and her husband Doug, of Waldorf, MD; her son Stephen Nelson and his wife Kim, of Wilmington, DE; her son, Dale Nelson and his girlfriend Telena Willis, of Salter Path, NC; and her son, Jonathan Nelson and his wife Page, of Morehead City, NC.
